We use Apple Mac technology to produce our DVDs. We know of no other school in Birmingham or indeed, in the country, that uses DVD technology as effectively at we do at Wylde Green. Each term we produce a DVD in place of a Newsletter. It is called 'The Term'. The Summer 2009 version of 'The Term' is available and has already been received by all of our parents. We would be very pleased to send you a copy, simple ring into school and request one from the office staff - they will post it to you with pleasure.
We produce DVDs on a wide range of topics to assist parents. Examplese include: 'Understanding Life in Reception', 'Teaching your child Phonics' and 'Approaches to teaching Mathematics'. In the Autumn Term 2008 we sent out to parents a double DVD pack entitled 'Teaching Children to Read' and 'Teaching Writing to Junior Children'. These DVDs have been made by the children and they share with you the difficulties they have in learning to read and write and how you can help them overcome these issues.
For information, we sell DVDs at Christmas time and the monies collected are used to fund 'The Term' which come free each term to every family. In addition we donate £2 collected from each disc sale to our Tileagd School in Romania. At Christmas 2009 we will be raising money to buy reading books for the Romanian children written in Romanian - the school is having difficulty in affording the appropriate books. See further details under the Romanian section of this website.
