Issue 17 - June 2026

As we approach the end of the academic year, we also take the opportunity to say farewell to some valued members of our staff. After three years at our school, Mr Roberts, Assistant Headteacher, will be leaving us. During his time here, he has made a significant contribution to our school community, and we are grateful for his commitment, leadership and the positive impact he has had on both pupils and staff.

We also say goodbye to Mrs Hamilton-Martin, who, after 12 years of dedicated service as our EYFS Leader, is moving on to a new chapter. Her care, expertise and unwavering support for our youngest children and their families have helped countless pupils make a happy and successful start to their school journey.

Finally, next Friday we will wish Mrs Morris-Mileto all the very best as she begins her maternity leave. We know you will join us in thanking all three for their dedication and in wishing them every success and happiness for the future.

{item_alt_tag}

We are looking forward to seeing our Year 6 children take to the stage one final time before they move on to the next chapter of their education.

We would like to invite Year 6 parents to please join us in watching the children perform School Daze which is a hilarious and heartwarming production that celebrates the memorable experiences of primary school life. From unique teachers and SATs to embarrassing mums and dads, awkward parents’ evenings, smelly classrooms and the excitement of spreading our wings, it captures all the moments we remember so fondly. Beneath the laughter lies a reminder that these may well be some of the best days of our lives.

Performances will last approximately 90 minutes and will take place on Wednesday 15th July 2026

  • Morning performance for 6W’s parents: Doors open at 9:05am for a 9:15am start.

  • Afternoon performance for 6J’s parents: Doors open at 1:35pm for a 1:45pm start.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Every year, Birmingham Libraries participate in the Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge which encourages pupils to read six books over the summer holiday period.  Entering the challenge is simple:

  • Go to one of the participating libraries mentioned below.
  • Collect a “Read to the Beat” sticker booklet.
  • Read any six books of your choosing.
  • Collect rewards for meeting targets along the way by reviewing the books you have read.

In a couple of weeks’ time, a representative from Boldmere library will be coming into school to promote the event which begins on Saturday 4th July and ends on Saturday 5th September.  When the children return to school in September, we will be celebrating pupils who have achieved the challenge with a special assembly.

Participating local libraries and opening hours:

  • Boldmere Library:                 Tues, Thurs and Sat, 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
  • Mere Green Library:            Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat – 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
  • Walmley Library:                   Mon, Weds and Sat – 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm

Reading regularly over the six-week summer holiday is highly beneficial to your child’s learning and development. It helps to maintain and strengthen the reading skills they have worked hard to develop throughout the school year, while also building fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and confidence. Even a short period of daily reading can make a significant difference, helping children return to school ready to learn and reducing the risk of losing progress over the long break. Most importantly, reading together can be an enjoyable way to foster a lifelong love of books and learning.

KS2 Chess Opportunity

We have been invited to take a KS2 team to a chess tournament on 10th July at Penn's Primary School. Children will have the opportunity to take part in chess at lunch times over the next few weeks and a team of 8 will be invited to the tournament. We have had lots of interest already and are delighted that so many children are eager to take part. Your child's class teacher will be letting them know when the lunchtime club will be running for their year group.

SEN Reviews

A reminder to all parents of pupils with SEND that attend one page profile reviews.

We will NOT be holding SEN reviews before we break up for the Summer as these are due to be held again in the Autumn term.  You will be invited to book an appointment when we return to school in September.

If you child is leaving us this year, all SEN information will have been shared with their new school before we break up for the Summer.
